PIANOCUBING

is a solo performance by Nick Acorne that transforms the piano into a sculptural, performative instrument. Five grand pianos are stacked into a monumental vertical structure, challenging conventional ideas of the instrument and redefining the relationship between performer, object, and audience. Performed at Forum Stadtpark in Graz, the work combines free improvisation, extended piano techniques, and spatial choreography, inviting listeners to experience the piano not only as a source of sound but as an immersive architectural presence. Through this unconventional setup, PIANOCUBING explores themes of balance, physicality, and the boundaries between musical performance, sound art, and installation.

Performed live at Forum Stadtpark, 13.3.2025.

Supported by Land Steiermark, Stadt Graz, FH JOANNEUM, Forum Stadtpark.
